For my hop project, I created a Valentine/appreciation card for my aunt. When I first colored the Anneke image, I was going to make a card for my daughter, but I changed my mind. :)
- Stamps: “Meet Anneke” by FromTheHeartStamps.com
- Paper: SU Chocolate Chip, Bazzill Pink, SU DP Bella Rose
- Coloring Medium: PrismaColor pencils, a bit of OMS on her face and pink shirt
- Sketch: i {heart} sketches Sketch003
- Size: 6 x 6, image is printed at 3.5 inches tall
I did not use any die cuts on this card, mostly because I was being lazy. :) I traced a CD I had on my desk for the circle template, and for the hearts, I folded some paper scraps and freehand cut them. It’s kind of a scabby chic card, so I didn’t mind the crease in the middle of the hearts, and I like the dimensional look.
I cut a 5 1/2 x 12 inch rectangle for the inside, then I scored it just shy of 6 inches so that it would fit inside the card when folded. There was some extra on the bottom that I folded up over the verse I printed out and zigzag stitched it. I had an extra heart that I added to the inside. I only glued down half of it so that it pops up a bit when the card is opened. I attached the entire insert to the top flap of the card only. This allows it to shut without buckling.
I just love this SU Bella Rose double-sided paper! And I hate using up paper I love, but THEN I found out that it’s available as a digital download. Yea! My paper anxieties are over.
The verse that I have selected for inside the card is © By M.S.Lowndes and can be found on her website at Heaven’s Inspirations. All verses are free for you to use in your handmade projects as long as you respect her terms. Her poetry and verses that she freely shares are beautiful, so please take the time to carefully read her terms of use. I like to include her copyright info on the back of my cards. She has many different categories. Even though this is a Valentine for my aunt, it is really a huge thank you to her for all that she has done in my life, so I chose an appreciation verse. The Valentine verses are wonderful, but they are more for romantic love. :)

Faith, your card is gorgeous- I really like your coloring ! The seams of the machine looks great. I do it, unfortunately, rare. Would be a goal for this year: use the sewing machine :-) Anyway, beautiful card and a great blog hop ! I am proud to be part of it.
Faith, this is so pretty. Love your coloring and subtly distressed edges. Beautifully finished inside, too. Love the verse, will have to check those out. Laughing about not using the patterned paper you love, I do that too!
You should have seen my response when I saw it was available digitally. hee hee :)

Love this Faith, you have inspired me to get my pencils out again… Beautiful work.
Love your card. Anneke is such a darling and I think I see a bit of mischief in her eye. I think these little girls are adorable, but I don’t use them on my cards. Because of the coloring maybe? But I may have to get this one.
